Serves 15 men and women living with HIV/AIDS who have a history of substance abuse. Residents must have successfully completed a detoxification program and have demonstrated a desire and ability to maintain sobriety. They may be residents of other HIV/AIDS housing programs who have relapsed, but have demonstrated a strong desire to become clean again. Applicants taking methadone are eligible for this program. Applicants must have medical clearance for inpatient substance abuse treatment, medical condition stability, and psychiatric and neurological competency to engage in the program.
LARC is located on the 11th floor of the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital on the edge of Franklin Park and within walking distance of the Forest Hills Orange Line T station. LARC has 15 bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen and dining area, a solarium group room, and an acupuncture treatment room. The program has laundry facilities. LARC is handicap accessible.
