A residential program for nine formerly homeless men and women with serious and persistent mental illness. This residence accommodates two programs for nine formerly homeless adults with serious and persistent mental illness. The three residents on
the uppermost floor are more independent and need little structure in their day-to-day living routines. Thus, the third floor unit is viewed as a separate apartment program.
This program is located in a very large wood frame triple-decker house in Dorchester. Admission to this program is limited to referrals made by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. A waiting list is maintained by the Director of Housing of the Bay Cove Mental Health Center. In addition, all applicants need to be homeless and eligible for Section 08 subsidies administered by the Boston Housing Authority. The house has six porches, three off the back of the house, a TV, a sitting area, and kitchen. Residents have their main meals on the first floor.
