The Foley Senior Residences

The Foley Senior Residences is a signature building on a 52-acre site that formerly housed the Boston Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital. Abandoned for 20 years, the building was expansively renovated to provide, in 2003, 98 mixed-income studio and one-bedroom units for independent seniors.

The building is impressive. The architecture is gorgeous; its long wings seem to reach out to embrace visitors as they travel up the long drive circling the grand front lawn.

The Foley is near the Neponset River, between Lower Mills and Mattapan Square. Foley residents sometimes take boat rides. They also go off-campus for such occasions as the annual Senior Ball. They regularly enjoy social events like Karaoke nights and Mardi Gras in the building’s Great Room. The staff also provides opportunities for physical fitness classes, yoga, bingo, arts and crafts, knitting, and more. Common amenities include a café, dining room, chapel, library, computer room, salon, laundry facilities, and a wonderful veranda where residents may choose to sit back, relax and take in the views of the lush landscape.

An MBTA bus stops right out front. Grocery stores, shops, banks, restaurants and places of worship are nearby.
