Program Details

Dennis McLaughlin House program is an emergency shelter program for women and children, funded by the Department of Transitional Assistance and the YMCA of Greater Boston's Annual Campaign. The McLaughlin House provides a wide range of life services including advocacy, employment support, substance abuse education and support, health and wellness opportunities and childcare assistance to help homeless families find and sustain permanent housing.

The shelter may host up to 10 homeless families, working to help families become stabilized and self-sufficient by using its own services and partnerships with other social service providers across Greater Boston.

Dennis McLaughlin House works to both secure adequate, affordable housing and help develop the skills and ability to help families maintain their homes once settled in permanent housing.

Assists homeless, low and moderate income greater Boston women in the process of recovering from substance abuse to maintain their recovery and stabilize and rebuild their lives and their families; to acquire the education and/or job training to gain marketable skills and become financially self-sufficient; learn new life skills and build new and healthy social networks, and make use of the community's resources to support their transition into independent, substance-free living in permanent housing For recovering families.
