Caritas Communities - Bedford VA SROs

On the sprawling campus of Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital. Residents of the modest quarters -- with single bed, desk, small refrigerator, chest of drawers, and side table -- will share communal kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and a day room with windows on all sides overlooking the pastoral hospital grounds. The veterans must be honorably discharged from the military and certified as homeless. They must also pass a criminal background check and be drug and alcohol free for at least 120 days before moving in. Residents will pay only 30 percent of their income, with the rest covered by a federal assistance program called Section 8. The applicants do not have to be Massachusetts residents.
