Program Details

It is our goal at Friends of the Homeless to house chronically homeless, homeless, and low income individuals either by providing permanent supportive housing in our properties, on our Worthington Street campus, or in the community at large. FOH owns and operates 110 single-room units available through waitlists for each building for qualified applicants.

Worthington House, 769 Worthington Street, located on the FOH campus is permanent housing, with 60 furnished single room occupancy units in a dormitory style setting with common kitchens, lounges, restrooms, and elevator. Women and men live on separate floors. These are Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (MRVP) subsidized units. To qualify you must be homeless or chronically homeless at the time of application and acceptance. A priority is given to chronically homeless applicants. The wait list and applications are managed on campus. This property is handicap accessible. Free laundry on site.

The Apartments at 755 Worthington Street, located on the FOH campus is a newly constructed residential building comprised of 32 enhanced single room occupancy studio apartments that are fully furnished and include a kitchenette and bathroom. The building is co-ed and is Section 8 subsidized. Applicants must be chronically homeless and submit initial applications to the Springfield Housing Authority on Sanderson Street. The first floor of this building is handicap accessible. Free laundry on site.
