MacGowan House - Worcester

This targeted capacity grant application proposes to improve outreach and mental health services to homeless families in primary care setting. The majority of homeless families are headed by women from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds, and struggling withy mental health and substance disorders, and histories of violence. Children in homeless families commonly have mental health needs, or are at risk of developing emotional, behavioral, or school-related problems. Placement of an intervention for homeless families in a health setting affords particular advantages in engaging homeless mothers and children into treatment for mental health and/or substance abuse problems in a nonstigmatizing setting.
